The best darts scoring apps for iPhone
Short answer: for Cricket, practice games and online matches, DartCounter names the most games and lets you play friends online or a dartbot. For Cricket or 501 scored on the watch itself, for a one-off price, Dart Scoreboard Pro has a standalone Apple Watch app. For sets and checkout practice, Darts Checkout Scorer Pro scores x01 in sets or legs for up to 8 players. Sport Score Tracker (our app) scores 501 and 301 on iPhone or Apple Watch, offline and with no account, alongside 17 other sports, but it plays x01 only and needs a Pro subscription.
We make Sport Score Tracker, so we have kept this page to what each developer says about its own app, and we say where our app falls short. For 501 and 301, a scoring app does the subtraction for you: you enter what was scored and it counts each player down to zero. The apps below differ in which darts games they know, how many players they take, whether you can score from your wrist, and how they are paid for.

The first three rows come from each app's App Store listing and, where noted, the developer's own website, as we read them on 25 September 2026. The Sport Score Tracker row was checked on the same date. Prices vary by country and change, so check the listing before you buy.
Most darts scorers are built around 501. Each player starts a leg on 501, a visit is 3 darts, and the leg is won by reaching exactly zero, finishing on a double or the bullseye. A visit is a bust if it scores more than you need, leaves 1, or reaches zero without a double. Which app for which player
Best for Cricket, practice games and online play: DartCounter
A darts scorer for iPhone from DartCounter, built for playing against other people as much as for keeping score.
- Best at: range. The listing names x01 games, Cricket, Around the Clock and several other training games, and you can play friends online or a computer dartbot. In x01 games, the voice of MasterCaller Ray Martin announces your name and your scores.
- Apple Watch: the listing does not mention a Watch app.
- Offline: not stated on the listing. Online matches need a connection.
- Pricing model: free to download. Ultimate, a monthly or yearly subscription, gives access to more features and statistics.
- Other features: DartCounter's website describes Local Tournaments, where players join a match on their own phones with a QR code or a match code. Creating a tournament needs Ultimate; joining one does not.
- Limitation: the listing does not spell out which features and statistics need Ultimate, or whether you enter each dart or each visit.
Best for Cricket and 501 on the wrist: Dart Scoreboard Pro
A dart scoreboard by Jonathan Hill with a standalone Apple Watch app. Its listing says it keeps score for Cricket, Wild Card Cricket, 301, 501 and Shanghai, for 1 to 5 players.
- Best at: Cricket variations. It lists standard, points, cut-throat and Wild Card Cricket, and you can pick your own Cricket and Shanghai numbers for practice or house rules. For 301 and 501 there are double in and double out settings, and the developer's website mentions checkout suggestions when you are on a finish.
- Apple Watch: a standalone Watch app with a complication. The developer's website says you can start, score and finish a game on the watch without touching your phone, and it syncs when your phone is around.
- Offline: not stated in those words. The developer's website says there are no accounts.
- Pricing model: a one-time purchase, $1.99 on the US store when we checked, with no ads and nothing recurring.
- Other features: the listing mentions statistics and game history, undo, and the scoreboard on an Apple TV through AirPlay mirroring.
- Limitation: up to 5 players, and the listing does not describe a sets format or online play.
Best for sets and checkout practice: Darts Checkout Scorer Pro
A darts app by Zoltan Vinkler; its listing describes checkout training and a full x01 scorer on iPhone and iPad.
- Best at: match formats. The listing describes x01 matches for up to 8 players, in sets or legs, first to or best of, with starting scores from 101 to 901.
- Apple Watch: the Watch app covers the training and checkout tools. The listing says the scorer is on iPhone and iPad.
- Offline: not stated in those words. The listing says games are saved on your device.
- Pricing model: the listing describes the app as ad-free; check it for the current price. The same developer also lists a free, ad-supported Darts Checkout Scorer, with an in-app purchase to remove the ads.
- Other features: 3-dart and first 9 averages, checkout percentage, 180s and match timelines, a checkout table with alternative routes, checkout quizzes and mental arithmetic games.
- Limitation: the listing names x01 only for match scoring, so no Cricket, and you score matches on the phone or tablet rather than the watch.
Best for 501 and 301 alongside other sports: Sport Score Tracker
For a game at home or in the pub you mostly want the score counted down correctly, busts handled and the finish shown, fast, with no sign-up and no signal needed. This is where Sport Score Tracker fits: you enter each visit as one total on iPhone or Apple Watch, it shows when a player is on a finish and suggests a route, and the same app keeps score in 17 other sports.
The catch: x01 only, two players or teams, and one total per visit, so it trusts that the last dart of a winning visit was a double. You also need a Pro subscription to use it.
Sport Score Tracker for darts, in detail
Our app, for iPhone and Apple Watch. It keeps score in darts and 17 other sports, and darts gets its own score pad.
- Best at: quick x01 scoring. It works offline, needs no account and shows no ads.
- Apple Watch: enter each visit from the watch, alongside the iPhone app, which keeps the match. When Health tracking is on, matches save to Apple Health as workouts.
- Offline: yes. Match data stays on your device.
- Pricing model: free to download; a Pro subscription (monthly or yearly) is required to use the app. No free trial. A new install starts a Pro plan (or restores one) at the first-run paywall; Pro covers your full match history, Insights and detailed match stats.
- Darts scoring: 501 or 301, double out or straight out, and best of 3, 5, 7 or 11 legs. Each visit is one total from 0 to 180, with quick scores for common totals such as 26, 45, 60, 100, 140 and 180. It rejects totals over 180 and the nine totals three darts cannot score (163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178, 179). A bust puts the score back to where it was and passes the throw. When a player can check out in one visit, it shows a Finish badge and a suggested route, such as T20 T20 Bull for 170. You also get undo for the last visit, and each player's 3-dart average in the post-match stats (Pro). You can share the live score with nearby friends or over SharePlay, and show it on a TV with AirPlay.
- Match stats (Pro): 3-dart average, first 9 average, 180s, 140+ and 100+ visits, highest visit, highest checkout, checkout percentage, busts, breaks of throw, best leg (fewest visits) and a leg-by-leg average grid. Without an active subscription, these show as a locked preview.
- Limitations: x01 only, so no Cricket, Around the Clock, Shanghai or Killer, and no 701 or 1001 starts, double in or sets format. Because it records one total per visit rather than each dart, it cannot check that a leg was finished on a double, and its checkout percentage is per visit, not per dart at a double. It scores two players or teams, Side A always throws first, and it has no handicap starts.

How we compared
We looked at what matters at the oche: which games the app knows, how many players it takes, whether you can score from an Apple Watch, whether it works without a signal, what it records, and how it is paid for. For the other apps we relied only on what each developer states on its App Store listing or its own website, read on 25 September 2026. Where a listing does not say something, we say so rather than guess. We do not rank apps by star ratings or review counts, and no app paid to be included.
Sport Score Tracker is described from its own scoring rules and pricing, checked on 25 September 2026. Listings change and prices vary by country, so check the current App Store listing before you pay.
Questions
What is the best darts scoring app for iPhone?
It depends on what you play. For Cricket, practice games and online matches, DartCounter names the most games. For Cricket or 501 scored on the watch without your phone, Dart Scoreboard Pro has a standalone Apple Watch app. For sets and checkout practice, Darts Checkout Scorer Pro. For 501 or 301 on iPhone or Apple Watch alongside other sports, offline and with no account, Sport Score Tracker, though it plays x01 only and needs a Pro subscription.
Which darts scoring app works on Apple Watch?
Of the apps on this page, Dart Scoreboard Pro and Sport Score Tracker both score a match on the watch. Its developer's website says Dart Scoreboard Pro's Watch app works on its own; Sport Score Tracker's works alongside the iPhone app, which keeps the match, and can save the match to Apple Health as a workout. The Darts Checkout Scorer Pro Watch app covers checkout training rather than match scoring, and the DartCounter listing does not mention a Watch app.
Does Sport Score Tracker score Darts Cricket?
No. It plays x01 only, with a 501 or 301 start, double out or straight out. It does not score Cricket, Cut-throat Cricket, Around the Clock, Shanghai or Killer. DartCounter and Dart Scoreboard Pro both list Cricket.
Is there a free darts scoring app for iPhone?
DartCounter is free to download, and its Ultimate subscription adds more features and statistics. The developer of Darts Checkout Scorer Pro also lists a free, ad-supported Darts Checkout Scorer. Dart Scoreboard Pro's App Store listing showed a one-time purchase when we checked on 25 September 2026. Sport Score Tracker is free to download but needs a Pro subscription to use, with no free trial.
Can Sport Score Tracker check that I finished on a double?
No. It records one total per visit, so any visit that reaches exactly zero wins the leg and it trusts that the last dart was a double. An app that records each dart has what it needs to check the finish, so look for per-dart entry on its listing.
