Pickleball · Comparison
The best pickleball score keeper apps for Apple Watch
Short answer: for traditional side-out doubles, where the score is called as three numbers such as 4-2-1, Score Keeper for Pickleball lists server 1 and server 2 tracking and tells you which side to serve from, in a standalone Apple Watch app. Side Out is a free, ad-free watch scorer that handles side-out, rally scoring (with or without the freeze) and simple scoring. Pickleball Score Keeper by codeDependent Software adds unforced errors and service stats, and SwingVision records the match on your iPhone for AI stats, highlights and line calls. Sport Score Tracker (our app) suits rally scoring and singles, offline and with no account, but it does not track the server number, cannot play the freeze and needs a Pro subscription. We checked every listing on 25 September 2026.
We make Sport Score Tracker, so we have kept this page to what each developer says about its own app, and we say where our app falls short. A scoring app keeps the running score for you: you tap which side won the rally and it works out the points, who serves and when the game and match end. Apps differ in which scoring systems they follow, whether they track the doubles server number, what they add on top, and how they are paid for.

The first four rows come from each app's App Store listing and, for SwingVision, its own guide to tracking a match, checked on 25 September 2026. The Sport Score Tracker row comes from the app's own scoring rules, checked the same day.
The doubles server number is the detail to test first. In traditional side-out doubles each team normally gets 2 servers per turn, a game starts at 0-0-2, and the score is called as three numbers, such as 4-2-1. An app that only marks the serving team cannot tell you whether you are on server 1 or server 2. Rally scoring is simpler: the score is two numbers and there is no server number. Since 1 January 2026, USA Pickleball rally scoring lets either side win the game-winning rally, but Major League Pickleball's DreamBreaker tiebreaker still requires it to be won on serve. For the rules themselves, see our guide to how to keep score in pickleball and rally scoring vs side-out scoring, and use our free score caller to check what any app should show after each rally.
Which app for which player
Best for side-out doubles with server numbers: Score Keeper for Pickleball
A pickleball scorer for Apple Watch by Ali Berk Alparslan, which its listing calls a standalone tracker built for pickleball's rules.
- Best at: the doubles serving sequence. The listing says it handles side-out scoring and server 1 and server 2 rotations, shows the three-number score (its example is 5-3-2), and tells you which side of the court to serve from. It also offers rally scoring.
- Apple Watch: the listing says you can start, track and save matches from your wrist.
- Offline: not stated on the listing.
- Pricing model: not stated in the listing text we checked, so look at the listing before you download.
- Other features: a voice umpire that calls the score from the watch speaker in nine languages, Apple Health (HealthKit) integration, and sharing a result by QR code or link, with the score flipped to the other side's point of view.
- Limitation: the listing does not say whether it can play the rally-scoring freeze, or what, if anything, needs a purchase.
Best for free scoring in every scoring system: Side Out
A pickleball score keeper by 205L Studio for Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad and Mac.
- Best at: covering the formats people actually play. The listing names side-out, rally and simple scoring, rally scoring with or without the freeze rule, singles and doubles, custom winning scores and win by 1 or by 2.
- Apple Watch: you swipe up or down to give the point to a team, and left or right to undo or redo; the Digital Crown also works. The listing says it works on the watch with no iPhone needed during play, and shows the serving order and player positions, with a marker for who is serving and from which box.
- Offline: not stated on the listing.
- Pricing model: the listing says it is completely free, with no ads.
- Other features: a companion iPhone or iPad scoreboard for spectators that announces the score in the three-number format, such as 4-2-1; match history and stats; player profiles; iCloud sync; automatic workout logging through HealthKit; and recovery of a match in progress.
- Limitation: the listing does not describe stats beyond match history, and it does not mention video or shot data.
Best for unforced errors, service stats and stacking: Pickleball Score Keeper
A pickleball scorer for Apple Watch and iPhone by codeDependent Software, which the developer calls the first pickleball app designed for Apple Watch.
- Best at: learning from your matches. The listing says matches are stored on your iPhone with key statistics, including unforced errors and service statistics, a player database with notes on opponents' strengths and weaknesses, and that players use it to learn team stacking.
- Apple Watch: you start a game on the watch by choosing singles or doubles, the points to play to and win by 1 or 2. The score is spoken aloud and gentle vibrations let you play on without looking, and the watch shows player positions and the current server.
- Offline: not stated on the listing.
- Pricing model: not stated in the listing text we checked, so look at the listing before you download.
- Other features: Apple Health integration, and saving a game that did not finish, useful when a session rotates players by time rather than by score.
- Limitation: the listing text we checked does not mention rally scoring or the three-number score call.
Best for video, shot stats and line calls: SwingVision
An AI video app for tennis and pickleball by SwingVision, Inc. You set up your iPhone or iPad to record the court, and the app analyses the match from that one camera.
- Best at: what happened in each rally. The listing describes shot speed, depth, accuracy and rally length, automated stats and a scoreboard on your video, highlights of your best rallies, and line calling.
- Apple Watch: SwingVision's own guide recommends keeping score on an Apple Watch, game by game or point by point, while the iPhone records, for the most accurate stats and scoreboard. The listing also mentions challenging line calls with slow-motion replays on the watch.
- Offline: not stated on the listing.
- Pricing model: a SwingVision Pro subscription unlocks automated scoring, line calling and unlimited cloud storage. The listing mentions a free trial.
- Limitation: it is built around recording, so you need a phone or tablet set up on court, and the listing does not say how it handles side-out doubles server numbers.
Best for rally scoring and singles, offline: Sport Score Tracker
Our app, for iPhone and Apple Watch. You tap the side that won the rally and it works out the points, the serving side, games and the match. It also scores 17 other sports.
- Best at: quick one-tap scoring for rally scoring and singles, on the iPhone or the wrist. It works offline, needs no account and shows no ads.
- Apple Watch: you can score every rally from the watch, including undo. Start the match on the iPhone to choose its settings; a match started on the watch uses the standard settings. The iPhone needs to be in reach to start a match; once it has started, the watch keeps taking points if the phone drops out of range and catches up when it reconnects. If you turn on Save Matches to Apple Health in the app's settings, matches save as workouts.
- Offline: yes. Match data stays on your device.
- Pricing model: free to download; a Pro subscription (monthly or yearly) is needed to start using the app. Pro also includes unlimited history, Insights and detailed stats.
- Pickleball scoring: singles (the default) or doubles; rally scoring (the default) or side-out scoring, where a rally won by the receiving side passes the serve and scores no point; games to 11, 15 or 21; win by two or by one; a single game, best of 3 or best of 5. In rally scoring any rally can win the game, including one won by the receiving side, in line with the 2026 USA Pickleball rules. The side that won a game serves first in the next. Finished games are listed as scorelines such as 11-7, 9-11, 11-5.
- Sharing: friends can follow the live score nearby or over SharePlay, and you can show it on a TV with AirPlay.
- Limitations: it does not follow the doubles second-server sequence: there is no 0-0-2 start, no server 1 or server 2 and no three-number call such as 4-2-1, and in side-out mode the serve passes after any rally the serving side loses. It marks the serving side, not which player serves or from which court. It cannot require the game-winning rally to be won on serve (the MLP DreamBreaker freeze), set a different target for the deciding game, or track stacking. It has no change-ends prompts, fault recording, time-outs, serve clock or match timer, and you cannot choose which side serves first.

How we compared
We looked at what matters on a pickleball court: which scoring systems an app follows (side-out or rally scoring, singles and doubles), whether it tracks the doubles server number, whether you can score from an Apple Watch, whether it works without a signal, how it is paid for, and what it does best. For the other apps we used only what each developer states on its App Store listing or its own website, checked on 25 September 2026. Where a listing does not say, we say so. We did not rank apps by star ratings or review counts, and no app paid to be included.
Sport Score Tracker is described from its own scoring rules and pricing, checked on the same date. Many more pickleball scorers turn up in App Store searches; we kept to apps whose listings we could check in enough detail. Features and prices change, so check the current listing before you pay.
Questions
Which pickleball score keeper app should I use on Apple Watch?
It depends on how you play. For traditional side-out doubles, Score Keeper for Pickleball lists server 1 and server 2 tracking and the three-number score. For a free app that covers side-out, rally and simple scoring, Side Out says it is free with no ads. For rally scoring or singles, Sport Score Tracker scores each rally with one tap on the watch, offline, but it does not track the server number and needs a Pro subscription.
Which pickleball app tracks server 1 and server 2?
Score Keeper for Pickleball's listing says it handles server 1 and server 2 rotations, shows the three-number score and tells you which side to serve from. Side Out shows the serving order on the watch, and its companion scoreboard announces scores such as 4-2-1. Sport Score Tracker marks only the serving side.
Is there a free pickleball scoring app for Apple Watch?
Side Out's listing says it is completely free, with no ads. Sport Score Tracker is free to download but needs a Pro subscription to start. The listing text we checked for Score Keeper for Pickleball and Pickleball Score Keeper does not state a price, so check their listings.
Can I keep pickleball score on my Apple Watch without my iPhone?
Score Keeper for Pickleball calls itself a standalone watch app, and Side Out says no iPhone is needed during play. With Sport Score Tracker your iPhone needs to be in reach to start a match; once it has started, the watch keeps taking points if the phone drops out of range and catches up when it reconnects.
Does Sport Score Tracker support rally scoring?
Yes. Rally scoring is the default, and any rally can win the game, as in the 2026 USA Pickleball rules. It cannot play the older freeze, where the game-winning rally must be won on serve; Side Out lists rally scoring with or without the freeze. You can switch Sport Score Tracker to side-out scoring in the match settings.
